Welcome to Homeofmusic e-mail (HOM Mail)!
Here's a little surprise I've been preparing for all of you for a little while now.
It's HOM Mail, like Hotmail, except that it's yourname@homeofmusic.com !!! :)
If you haven't already, please sign up now and start using the service as your primary e-mail account. You are allowed 6 megs of e-mail data.
It is free, permanent, private, SPAM-free, versitile and globally accessible like all other web based e-mails.
There is also an ad-free option availlable to you at any time called MailPlus, with 25 megs of space, for only $19.99. If you upgrade, you'll also be helping homeofmusic, as we get $10 per MailPlus sign-up.
For the time being, you are each allowed ONE account ... it should be your EXACT HOM forum name. If there is a space in your name, you have the option of either removing it, or replacing it with an under_score.
I have now embedded a log-in on the main homeofmusic homepage, but for now, it will only be visible at the top of the main forum index IF YOU ARE LOGGED INTO THE FORUM. If you are not logged into the forum, then you will not see the log-in. This is to prevent people from getting names belonging to current members. If someone has taken your homeofmusic user name as a @homeofmusic.com e-mail, then please let me know and I will delete their e-mail account.
The priviledge of HOM members being guaranteed the same name with HOM Mail won't last forever, but it will most likely last a couple of months at least, to give everyone a chance. This shouldn't happen anyways, since you all should be ONLY registereing ONE account with your current Homeofmusic forum log-in name.
Please be sure to report ANY problems of lost mail, or other problems with the service.
There are two levels of service ... the first is free ad-based mail (you get this option by default, and yes ... there are advertisements) ... the second level is MailPlus which is availlable for $20 a year ... which gives you pop/smtp/etc access, larger file limit, and NO ADS !!! I'll probably be getting this myself at some point ... lol ... but please do not bother paying for an upgrade until HOM Mail has officially been launched (when you see it on the homeofmusic homepage), in the case that I decide the service is not reliable enough to keep. As an added bonus, they credit me $10 for each sign-up !!!
About the ads ... the only ads placed by HOM, is the set of 3 small ads similar to those found in the forum ... all others are placed by the 3rd party site. You'll see a 'HOM' before HOM ads.
The more feedback you all give me, the faster we can go public with this ... so PLEASE send me as much info as posible, and test the system out as much as posible ...
[Note: Please invent a USA address when you register ... browse the net to find a valid address/zip code combination ... I'll get access to their seperate advertising section if HOM has a minimum american quota of users (not sure what it is though)]
NOTE: After you first register, you might need to log-out, then re-log-in to get all the features
NOTE: DO NOT USE HOM MAIL WITH YOUR HOM FORUM REGISTRATION INFORMATION. You should also not change your HOM Forum account to have an @homeofmusic.com e-mail address. The reason for this, is if there is a problem with HOM Mail, and it gets cancelled, you won't be able to use the password reset feature in the future.
HOM Mail is run by a third party site that specialises in e-mail. The help pages of HOM Mail is seperate from the main site. Please consult [url=http://homeofmusic.mail.everyone.net/email/scripts/help.pl]HOM Mail Help[/url] for help with homeofmusic e-mail.
I'll be embedding the e-mail log-in to the main homepage as soon as I've made the decision to keep it permanently !!!
